JENS VETTER

Jens Vetter (b. 1980) is a German sound artist and researcher focussed on developing new hardware, software and electronics for composition and performance.

Deconstructing the vocabulary of musical instruments he takes a critical look at contemporary environments and sensitivities. His apparatuses are not only metaphors, but can also be used as musical instruments - even if they often show themselves to be unruly and rebellious. He condenses the same ambiguity and intensity in abrasive stage performances, questioning routines and mutations at the edges of club culture and transformative communities.

Amongst others he performed and exhibited at Ars Electronica Festival (AT), Mutek San Francisco (US), Speculum Artium (SI), LAB30 (DE), Medialab Prado (ES), Kosmetiksalon Babette Berlin (DE).

He lives and works in Vienna, Austria and is currently investigating the interactive physical representation of sound as PhD candidate at the Tangible Music Lab, University of Art and Design Linz.
